Explanation of Dedicated Packages

When we talk about hosting servers, there are 3 major categories - hosting servers, VPS (private virtual hosting servers) and dedicated packages. Shared web servers accommodate multiple customers and thus the system resources per account are limited, VPS offer more server configuration independence, but also influence other virtual hosting servers on the hardware node if used heedlessly, and dedicated servers give you the autonomy to carry out everything you wish without intervening with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated servers?

Dedicated servers are generally much more expensive than shared hosting web servers or VPS web hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The explanation is very simple. If your corporation has a heavy resource-consuming web site, or simply has very specific server setup requirements, the most intelligent choice is a dedicated servers. For somebody who is willing to invest in security and reliability, the bigger price is of no importance. You receive full server root privileges and can utilize 100 percent of the server's resources without anyone else availing of these resources and intervening with your web pages.

Hardware specs

Most hosting corporations, including us at Nissi Hosting, provide several different hardware configurations you can choose from depending on your demands. The hardware architectures offer different types of processors, a different amount of cores, different RAM and hard disk sizes and different traffic quotas. You can pick a web hosting CP, which is a handy user interface if you want to utilize the dedicated servers for hosting purposes solely and choose not to resort to a Secure Shell terminal for all the changes you will be making. We offer three sorts of web hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The hosting Control Panel of your choosing

If you are a self-confident Linux OS user (our dedicated hosting web servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could manage your dedicated packages via a Secure Shell client exclusively. That, though, could be inconvenient, particularly if you want to give access to somebody else who has less technical experience than yourself. That is why having hosting Control Panel software installed is an intelligent idea. The Hepsia Control Panel tool that we offer does not include full root-level access and is mainly suitable for somebody who runs many web portals that swallow plenty of system resources, but would rather administer the online portals, databases and e-mail addresses using an easy-to-use hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting CPs, on the other hand, grant root-level access and offer three levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell hosting accounts rather than utilizing the dedicated servers just for yourself, you should select one of these two.

Web server monitoring and backup services

Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In case of a predicament with your dedicated web hosting server, such as a non-responsive Apache or an outage, it is good to have some kind of monitoring system activated. Here at Nissi Hosting the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated servers too. Backups are also a bonus feature - the hosting distributor offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could select a type of RAID that would allow you to keep the same data on 2 server hard disk drives as a precaution in the event of a server hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given full server root privileges erases something by accident.
